Melissa Henesey, M.S. CCC-SLP

Melissa is a bilingual pediatric speech language pathologist.  She was born and raised in San Diego, California and is a native Spanish speaker.

Melissa became inspired to become a speech language pathologist by combining her passion for child development with her love of learning languages (Italian, French and ASL). She believes that communication is essential to every part of life and is passionate about helping others become better communicators. She strongly values the importance of teamwork in order to yield maximum improvements, and loves celebrating all victories - both big and small!

Melissa received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Santa Clara University.  She worked as an early childhood educator at Stanford University’s Bing Nursery School before obtaining her master’s degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders from Emerson College.  In 2015, she was awarded The Decibels Scholar and received hands-on training to work with infants and toddlers who are deaf and hard of hearing.

Melissa is licensed in the state of California and is a certified member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). She is trained in the PROMPT method, a treatment method for children with motor speech disorders such as apraxia, dysarthria, or phonological disorders. She is also certified in the Hanen Program, It Takes Two to Talk, an approach to treating young children with language delays, and is trained in the Lidcombe Program, a behavioral treatment for young children who stutter.
